Zeiss is allegedly working on a new macro lens. The product in question is the Zeiss Batis 60mm f/2.8 and it will be announced soon.
The Batis-series lenses delivers a very high image quality and provides the same dust and weather seals. The first three optics are the 25mm f/2, 85mm f/1.8 and the 18mm f/2.8 models.
Now the rumor mill points to a September announcement. We might see the Zeiss Batis 60mm f/2.8 lens soon.
Zeiss Batis 60mm f/2.8 Macro Lens Coming in September 2016
The upcoming macro optic will be designed for A7-series full-frame cameras. It will also be compatible with Sony E-mount mirrorless with APS-c sized image sensor. If becomes available it will deliver a 35mm focal length equivalent of approximately 90mm.
Sony full-frame E-mount camera users only have the FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS lens priced for $1,098. The rumored Batis 60mm f/2.8 by Zeiss would be the second macro option for A7 owners.
