Sony will allegedly announce a new E 16-55mm f/2.8 lens in 2018. It will be designed for company’s mirrorless cameras with APS-c sized image sensors.
The standard zoom lens will be made and designed by Sony. The sources are claiming that the optic will become official alongside the A6700 in the near future.
Current A-mount version of the 16-50mm f2.8 is a sharp lens but comes with a high price tag. Sony APS-C mirrorless cameras need some budget-friendly lenses. As a result the rumored Sony 16-55mm f/2.8 APS-C lens might have a fair price which should be below the $1,000 mark.
Sony 16-55mm f/2.8 APS-C E-Mount Lens Rumored for 2018
The perfect standard zoom for Sony APS-c E-mount cameras is the 16-70mm f/4 lens with Zeiss branding. The upcoming E 16-55mm f/2.8 lens will be the one with Sony name on it.
Nevertheless, 2018 would be an exciting year for Sony. We already know the FE 400mm f/2.8 lens which has been confirmed earlier. Another 135mm optic for full-frame mirrorless and now the 16-55mm f/2.8 for APS-c E-mount system.
