Canon Patent for EF-M 9-17mm f/3.5-5 mirrorless lens

Canon has filed a patent in Japan. It is the EF-M 9-17mm f/3.5-5 lens designed for company’s mirrorless interchangeable lens system.

From the patent application we can see that Canon is working on a new super wide-angle zoom lens with a maximum aperture range between f/3.5-5. If becomes available, it will be aimed at Canon EOS-M mirrorless cameras.

Fujifilm announces the XF2X TC WR Teleconverter & LH-XF23 Lens Hood

Fujifilm has announced the FUJINON XF2X TC WR teleconverter and the LH-XF23 lens hood for XF 23mm f/1.4 R lens.

The Fujinon XF2X TC WR is a new 2x teleconverter extending the telephoto reach of two X-mount lenses, the Fujinon XF 50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR and XF 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR.

The Fujinon Teleconverter XF2X TC WR features an optical construction of 9 elements in 5 groups. It is weather and dust-resistant when used with the X-T1 and X-Pro2 camera bodies.

Phase detection AF is still available when using the XF 50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR with the teleconverter mounted. With the XF 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens, photographers can use CDAF. Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 Lens Test Results

DxOMark published their test results for the Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 prime lens which is designed for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras.

The test results shows the fast prime lens scored 39 points and performed an excellent optical performance. Currently selling for a price tag of $1,199, the optic has been tested using the Sony A7R full-frame E-mount camera.

From the Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 test results, DxOMark finds that the lens offers uniform and strong resolution between f/4 and f/11. When aperture settings gets wider, good center resolution is recorded, with just a little drop-off in the outer field, and at f/22, sharpness levels drop to around 60%, but remain homogenous across the frame. … Continue reading

As mentioned earlier that the company has listened to its fans and the Fujifilm is actively working on a 23mm wide-angle prime optic. Now the trusted sources are claiming that the Fujifilm XF 23mm f2 WR lens will become official at the Photokina 2016 event.

Looks like this Summer then the lens will be compatible with all X-mount cameras. XF 23mm f/2 WR lens will have a maximum aperture of f/2. It will provide a full-frame focal length equivalent of 35mm.

Samyang has finally unveiled the company’s first lenses that support autofocus. Samyang 14mm f/2.8 and 50mm f/1.4 are the first two optics comes with autofocus technology that are aimed at Sony FE-mount mirrorless cameras.

The first Samyang lenses with autofocus support will be offered in Sony’s full-frame mirrorless cameras. Both models are claimed to be fully compatible with contrast-detect as well as phase-detect AF systems.
