Olympus has officially announced the new PEN E-PL9 mirrorless camera with Micro 4/3rds image sensor.
At first glance the Olympus E-PL9 looks very much like its predecessor, the E-PL8, sporting a similar rangefinder-like retro design. On other hand the core specifications of the PEN E-PL9 has lots of improvements.
The PEN E-PL9 uses the 16MP Live MOS sensor as well as the same TruePic VIII processor found on the E-M10 Mark III. They also have the same 121-point contrast-detect AF system with face and eye detection.
Main improvements on the PEN E-PL9 are the 4K video recording, 5-axis image stabilisation, a built-in pop-up flash, and Bluetooth. The camera now records 4K video at 30/25/24fps, and the 5-axis image stabilisation will help keep videos steady and smooth. … Continue reading
Olympus E-PL9 specifications has been leaked on the web claiming that the Micro Four Thirds camera will be announced on January 31th.
The PEN-series tries to bring together the best of both worlds, offering features that are useful no matter which way the camera is pointed. Olympus E-PL9 will continue the saga with upgraded new features.
Pen-series also inherits the ability process both JPEG and Raw files in-camera. With JPEGs, adjustments are limited to things like cropping, shadow adjustment, red-eye correction, and color saturation. Olympus is rumored to announce PEN E-PL9 mirrorless camera in early 2018, as the new MFT camera registered with the code “IM008” in Russia.
This registration could mean that the upcoming PEN-series shooter will feature bluetooth version 4.1. This is the same wireless module as in the Olympus AIR cell phone.
