According to recent rumors, the upcoming Leica SL2 will be announced later this year, around 3rd of 2019. Leica SL2 will feature with Leica Q2‘s 47MP full frame CMOS sensor. And there will be no Leica M11 in 2020, instead, a new camera called Leica M10X will be announced in 2020 with the 47MP sensor.
Photokina 2018 : The previously rumored Leica S3 medium format camera is now officially announced, which is expected to feature 64 megapixels medium-format sensor, a “large and bright SLR viewfinder,” 3 fps burst shooting and 4K video capture. This Leica S3 medium format camera will be available in spring of 2019.
In addition, Leica Camera announced a groundbreaking L-mount alliance with Panasonic and Sigma, a new color option for the Leica CL, a new FOTOS image capture and sharing mobile app compatible with all Wi-Fi enabled Leica cameras and firmware updates for the SL system, S (Typ 007), M10 and M10-P.
One day before the official launch of Photokina 2018, Leica Camera AG, Panasonic and Sigma announced a strategic partnership at the company’s press conference.
The “L-Mount Alliance” is an unprecedented way of working together and will be particularly beneficial to the customers of the three companies. It allows Panasonic and Sigma to use the L-mount standard developed by Leica for their own developments and thus also offer cameras and optics with this lens mount.
Through the joint efforts of the three partners, the alliance will significantly contribute to the importance of the L-Mount standard for the world of photography.
Leica Camera announces the first two editions of a new line of high-performance Summicron-SL lenses for the Leica SL-System; the APO-Summicron-SL 75 mm f/2 ASPH. and the APO-Summicron-SL 90 mm f/2 ASPH.
Both lenses seamlessly work with the SL-System’s lightning-fast autofocus and, as with all SL-Lenses, have been designed and constructed in Germany with exceptional materials for a long work life, even withstanding the rigors of professional use while always providing superior image quality.
In the USA the APO-Summicron-SL 75mm f/2 ASPH. and the APO-Summicron-SL 90mm f/2 ASPH. will start shipping from February. The 75mm model will retail for $4750 while the 90mm will set you back $5150. In the second half of 2018, Leica will launch two more lenses, the Summicron-SL 35 mm f/2 ASPH. and APO-Summicron-SL 50 mm f/2 ASPH.
Leica has just announced the Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH. lens. This is the new low-light monster and according to Leica, it boasts ‘impeccable speed’ and ‘exceptional imaging performance’ as well as “hair-thin depth of focus [that] isolates subjects with extreme precision.”
The Noctilux-M 75 mm f/1.25 ASPH. is the ideal optic in portrait and close-up photography, including a shallower depth of focus than that of the Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH. and a close focusing distance of 0.85m, making for a reproduction ratio of 1:8.8 for even more precise isolation of subjects. Additionally, the eleven blades of its iris ensure a soft and harmonious bokeh in out-of-focus areas.
The Leica Noctilux-M 75 mm f/1.25 ASPH will be available at Leica Stores, Boutiques and Dealers at the beginning of 2018. According to Leica, the lens will retail for $12,795.
Leica released firmware updated version 1.2 for the Leica TL2 mirrorless camera.
This new firmware adds support for the new compact prime Elmarit-TL 18 f/2.8 ASPH lens. The new optic consists of 8 elements (4 of which are aspherical,) a minimum focus distance of 30cm and a light weight of only 80g.
Leica has just officially announced the new mirrorless camera: Leica CL. It is a compact APS-C camera with a touchscreen LCD, customizable twin dials and a beautiful 2.36M-dot EVF, featuring an ISO range of 100-50000 and shoots at up to 10 fps, 4K/30p video and Wi-Fi for transferring photos to a smartphone.
